A neurotransmitter that is most known for regulating mood. While the release of serotonin has been commonly associated with producing feelings of happiness and content, it is a misconception that this is its primary function (it's not). Serotonin's range of functions in the human body are very broad and complex. The chemical plays a crucial role in cognition, memory, reward, and learning as well as numerous physiological processes such as vomiting and the constriction of blood vessels. Without Serotonin, you probably would not even be alive.
