Its a last name that isn't very common...It is usually split up into Von Der Hofen cause they are the root words of the name. (Von) von is a preposition which approximately means of or from. When it is used as a part of a German family name, it is usually a nobiliary particle. (Der) der means "the" and (Hofen) hofen meaning "oven". Put these together and you got "From the oven". If a woman they are very proud and tend to be loud, this person will hide from there loved ones cause they thinks it's the best thing to do. However loving and kind they are really mean once upset or mad. If man, pretty much the same thing just watch out they get big noses ( it's a German thing)
