(Origin: uncompiled script programming) In the context of programming, it is a second meaningless label for an unimportant variable when you just realized you already used the variable name "foo," especially when you have already typed "foo." So... just adding "fer" seems reasonable, why not? By extension, a secondary universal pronoun for any person, place, or thing that you care too little about to name correctly. Often used in conjunction with "foo" to create a Dr. Seuss style phrase.
