Otherkin are a community of people who identify with non-human or partially non-human identities. There are two belief systems in the community that can be set into two groups. Spiritual otherkin: The belief that a non-human identity is caused due to the soul being non-human or a past life being non-human, such as soul misplacement. Psychological/Mentalist otherkin: The belief that a non-human identity is caused due to imprinting on an animal at a young age or other means of imprint. Otherkin do not believe they are phsyically their kintype(s) and know for certain they are not phsyically or biologically non-human. Otherkin cannot choose their kintypes either, and can have more than one kintype. Otherkin do however suffer shifts that cause them to act, feel or have the mentally of one of their kintypes. Not all otherkin have these shifts.
