Sporus was a young, effeminate boy who was castrated and married by the Roman Emperor Nero, who had recently kicked kicked his pregnant wife to death. The reason was likely that he bore resemblance to her. Sporus ended up out living the Emperor, who was killed by his own guards after being declared an enemy of Rome. He was then married by 2 different usurpers after Nero's death, the last of which wanted to use him in a fatal reenactment of the Rape of Proserpina, Sporus committing suicide to avoid the fate.
