When you beat down an algorithm by force to produce a change to suggested content and notifications. Urban Etymology: Flogging is usually associated with at least two things. One, beating someone or some thing into submission. Two, pleasuring ones self vigorously. In the modern digital world made up of algorithms that keep trying to force suggested ads and content into our lives it is necessary to beat them down occasionally in order to produce better results, such as more puppy videos and less conspiratorial nonsense. To do this we must beat channels like YouTube, Facebook, and Netflix into submission by flogging them with a single content type over and over rapidly until the algorithms start coughing up the types of content we truly want to see. Calling it iflogging brings the word into the digital age!
