Someone who devotes themselves to the scientific or in some cases artistic study of nature. Naturalists are generally knowledgeable about nature, and are often able to identify animals, plants, weather formations and other occurrences to a T. A person may consider themselves a naturalist even if it is not part of a career. Do not confuse with naturist, or someone who enjoys nudity.
