(Noun) A term generally used to describe the state of being unaware of something, and may refer to: 1) Physical unconsciousness, the state of a person being unconscious of the environment they are situated in or unresponsiveness to environmental factors and stimuli; 2) The state of being unaware or oblivious, not having knowledge about something. Not to be confused with psychoanalytic unconsciousness, which is caused by internal factors as opposed to external.
