Yermek is a male name originating from the turkic culture, nowadays mostly used by the Kazakh people. The meaning of the name “Yermek” is being in the state of entertainment or better to say enjoyment, so when a parent’s name their son-Yermek, they incorporate the feeling of enjoyment for their sons actions and never being disappointed or dissatisfied in any situation that life throws at their family. Can also mean just entertainment or fun in the sense that can be distracting as mentioned in one of Abay Kunanbaev’s poems. “Мен жазбаймын өлеңді ермек үшін” - “ I don’t right the song for the fun of it”
