Påb is a Danish expression. Awkward silence can be followed my an imperative "Påb". It is used to break the silence. Påb can also be used in a reassuring way. Lengthening the Påb with additional "å's" will give the Påb a more positive feeling. A short Påb can and will come across as being negative. Påb is a quick and effective "mood-lightener". Påb can also be a reaction to a really "goofy" moment. It is very important to not use Påb as a substitution for "on/på". For example, it is commonly frowned upon to say "I'm Påb" - Translated from Danish.
