To accept a video recorded rant posted on social media as real, and to subsequently post a vicious, vulgar or hateful, but most often hyberbolic over-reaction in response to the video clip. Meanwhile everyone else watching the video knows that the original video post was obviously a joke, and often read the comments just to see who got taken in by the joke. This originated with the social media postings of comedian Brent Terhune in 2020, who perfected the performance of a character who was obviously an over-the-top caricature of a Donald Trump supporter, and posted that character's rants online. The worst responses are often reposted by Terhune himself for his audience.
