As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools, like many workplaces began to seriously consider the untapped potential of technology. Schools rapidly adapted to support learning at home and many educators were forced to become familiar with a great deal of software that many had not used before. On the reopening of schools in

the UK in September 2020, there was a substantial demand from teachers to continue using some of the tools and skills they had acquired to support their pupils' learning. Some were very excited to continue experimenting with different apps & learning platforms, sharing ideas and supporting each other to get to grips with novel software. Some described themselves as being 'digixcited', to express how 'digitally excited' they were, or indeed, how excited they were to be discovering new ways to digitally evolve their pedagogy.

Believed to have been first used by a Biology teacher at a girls' school in Oxfordshire, it has since become a hashtag on twitter (once it was realised to have been an elusive 'antegooglewhackblatt' at the time) and has been warmly received in educational circles throughout the South of England.
