Thorncliffe Park is a densely populated multicultural neighbourhood located in East York in the city of Toronto. The neighbourhood is known for having a big presence of Muslims, with about 90% of the population being Muslims. This can be seen with the many muslim-run businesses and different Muslim prayer areas scattered in the neighbourhood. 75% of the residents are visible minorities. The neighbourhood has a big presence of different minority groups such as South Asians (Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi), Afghans, Arabs (many being Syrian), Filipinos, African and many other minority groups. The neighbourhood is a known immigrant hub, with many of the residents coming from 3rd world countries. Thorncliffe Park has many cheap highrise and lowrise apartments and public housing units. Thorncliffe Park is also known as TPK or Tpark. While the neighbourhood is generally not very dangerous, the neighbourhood has a history of many shootings, stabbings and gang activity. Police can be seen patrolling the neighbourhood very often. The neighbourhood is known to be in conflict with a nearby neighbourhood, Flemingdon Park - along with other neighbourhoods. Rapper known as "Road Runner" comes from Thorncliffe park and is known to represent the neighbourhood through his music.
