A city in South Tunisia , surrounded by the charming oasis. Tozeur has a rich history dating to before the Middle Ages when it served as a crossing point for Sahara-bound caravans and it was also influenced by the passage of civilizations like the Carthaginians , Numidians , Romans and Byzantines. Its indigenous inhabitants are the Amazighs and the city’s name Tozeur is a Tamazight word “ⵜⵓⵣⴻⵔ” that means the source of the water.
