A member of the 80s American pop-rock band The Bangles. She grew up with '60s music and incorporated that '60s sound in The Bangles' music, especially on their 1984 debut album All Over the Place. After the commercial success of The Bangles' second studio album Different Light, the media singled her out as the lead singer even though singing duties on the band's albums were evenly divided among the band's members. After the release of The Bangles' third studio album Everything, the band split due to friction among the band members caused by Susanna Hoffs being viewed as the lead singer. Susanna went on to release two solo studio albums, When You're a Boy and Susanna Hoffs.
