Where The Crawdads Sing is best known as a novel by Delia Owens, usually a nonfiction writer. To quote the blurb on the back of the book, here is the summary. "For years, rumors of "The Marsh Girl" Have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand..." The book was published in 2018 by the company PUTNAM. "Where The Crawdads Sing" is also a saying, at least in the universe that the characters live in and the meaning is more literal than you'd might think. However... I want to see someone else put the other meaning on here.
