Very common greeting in Austria and Bavaria loosely translated into "good day" having Catholic origins. Despite declining church attendance / affiliation, it's not unusual in those regions to hear it from an immigration/customs officer, a train conductor or even a McDonald's employee. May draw some sarcastic replies from Protestant Germans up north because they tend to interpret that greeting as "greet God".
