A FLAKE is ONLY when a person does NOT inform the person/parties AHEAD* of time that he is unable to make the engagement. On dates, people get STOOD UP. At events, he is considered a NO-SHOW. Later, flakes generally give lame excuses for their absence or attempt to ignore their behavior altogether. * A flake is NOT necessarily someone who is LATE or someone who informs the party ahead of time that they are unable to make the event.
