imagine for a minute you're new here. being told that love is a capitalist invention would not sound so far fetched. all the consumerism it triggers, from first dates and "winning their hearts" (presents, going out, telephone bills, beauty products, wardrobe) to establishing a formal partnership (honeymoon tourism, real estate, children, more presents, more proof that we accept our fate), would not shock us at all.
