Luno is a mythological male gay deity created and used by the gay male community as an orchestrator of all things sexual. Luno can be be both fortuitous bringing about exciting sexual experiences, but can also be a trickster and enabler of loose sexual temptations and desires that one may regret later. Luno evokes virility, temptation and a loss of inhibitions in gay men - especially during the week preceding a full moon. The nomenclature of Luno is a masculinisation of the latin feminine word for moon 'luna'. Just as the moon controls the tides and women's fertility cycle - Luno controls the sexual ebbs and flows of gay male sexuality.
