Acronym for Distributed Renewable Resources. Distributed: Spread out, not in one location Renewable: Always available, does not depend upon consumption of a limited resource Resource: Thing necessary for accomplishing a goal; often, the goal is staying alive (e.g., local solar / wind energy, rainwater collection, etc.) DRR are often "green" or ecologically friendly options. DRR would help people live more independently. As opposed to the Centralized Consumption Resources typical in industrialized societies. (e.g., coal / natural gas / nuclear power plants, city water treatment facilities, etc.)
