A social event spontaneously held around or within one or more vehicles which involves the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Bumper parties can be held in parking lots, wooded areas, or public areas. Not to be confused with a tailgate party, a bumper party is more exclusive and often held in secret. Bumper parties originated in Canada during winter season to escape the cold. Bumper parties can have open doors and trunks but do not exclusively require them like a tailgate party.
