The dingnat is characterized primarily by how annoying they are, but the most essential element of their behavior is a resolute refusal to be considerate of how other people's perspectives and feelings differ from their own while refusing to take responsibility. Root: A combination of "dingus" and "gnat." Gnats are annoying little pesks, but's that's not their fault. Bugs don't choose to exist. Dingnats are similar, but they're human. Not only do they choose to exist, they refuse to take responsibility for their own burden of existence. Dingnats insist on making their problems everyone else's.
