There comes a time when you acknowledge that the prison is in your mind. Free your mind and the rest will follow, as the song goes. Be color blind don’t be so shallow. Well that hasn’t happened yet. Neither has the disappearance of the school to prison pipeline. Your mind can get caught up in these things. It can bring your down to new lows. As can your own faults. Failures. What others have done said. Oh boo boo. You grow. A sprout through the cell bars. You reach for the sunshine and climb up. And sometimes the very next day hat new spirit gets trampled by a jaywalker. Sometimes your need for another person is your prison. Your ego. Your need to outsmart outshine. To win. Or even to lose. What binds you Find out. And release it. Don’t let anything be your downfall. You are not in prison or jail. You are free.
