Emo has nothing to do with cutting, depression, or black actually. I mean, yes, many emos have that aesthetic but it isn't part of the definition. The real definition according to a real emo, like me, is more like a version of intensly emotional rather than dead inside. To be honest, I would go so far as to say that My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Twenty One Pilots are emo. Why? Emo music is a genere of music that is extremely emotional, listeners can actually relate to it because it tends to talk about the subjects that almost no one else is willing to sing about, the stressful ones. And most of the singers are passionate about what they're doing with their life and they genuinely care about their fans, unlike Justin Bieber. Just because you wear black, like rock, wear eyeliner and an orange beanie, doesn't make you emo. Your heart does. Emos don't even wear that half the time. It's all stereotyping. Don't stereotype people, they decide wether they want to join The Black Parade or The Skeleton Clique.
