We as professionals have developed a new word for the stomach bug. It shall from this day forward be referred to as: PLU also known as the pooping, puking, and painful virus. Plu is a Gastrointestinal virus and includes multiple symptoms which include: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, indigestion, and nausea. This helps people know the difference between the actual flu (upper respiratory) which frequently gets confused as the stomach bug, so now we can say Plu instead. We developed this word after discussing the need at lunch because my whole family had just come down with the Plu and had a variety of symptoms including severe stomach pains a few days after the puking had stopped but it was still related to the same virus.
