• Reticide is the subtle and systematic annihilation of a mass group of people, usually not through direct violence, but through less overt means. Examples include propaganda encouraging the group not to reproduce, systematic pressure intended to encourage racial suicide, and institutional campaigns intended to stifle discussion or recognition of the killing through controlling of platforms of speech. • Combines Reti-, which is Latin for “restrained silence” and -Cide, which is Latin for “kill”.
