Northern Territory slang for "Man" Origin: "Mulliga" and "Maluka" derive from the Yangman language word; "marluga" (Maa-rloo-ka) meaning "old man" In Jeanie Gunn's book, "We of the never never" the station boss was referred to as "Maluka" by the Aboriginals on Elsey Station in 1902. There is a street and a park in Katherine and a street in Palmerston named "Maluka" Darwin locals generally pronounce the word as "Mulliga" (Ma-lee-gar), basically referring to any male person.
