Fucnose - any carbohydrate of indeterminate structure. It is so difficult to understand the chemistry of these sugar molecules that you may hear chemistry professors exclaim their name in exasperation at just how hard it is to understand. Fucnose is loosely related in chemical structure to godnose, which was originally called ignose and is now known as ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
