If you don’t already know, gif stands for graphic interchange format. A gif is an animated image, one that moves like an animation. An example of a gif is down below. Gif is a word that is pronounced with a hard g. The reason it is pronounced with a hard g is because every other word in the english language that starts with gaf, gef, gif, gof and guf, G followed by a vowel followed by an F, starts with a hard g. Every name that starts with gaf, gef, gif, gof and guf, G followed by a vowel followed by an F starts with a g. With both of those things in mind, it should be apparent that gif is pronounced with a hard g and not a soft g, atleast phonetically speaking, because according to the creator of the gif, it is pronounced jif. Well that’s nice, because now I know that if I create a word, I can make it disobey every phonetic rule in the English language. e.g the word stomach is pronounced stoomocechie.
