A violently rotating column of air that spawns from a powerful thunder storm called a supercell. A supercell contains a spinning sideways column of air called a Mesocyclone. When the mesocyclone is turned by rising warm updrafts, causing it to sink lower and lower until it makes contact with the ground. Tornadoes can be classified into two types. High visibility, in which there are no factors impeding visibility, and rain-wrapped, where sheets of rain and clouds obscure the tornado, making them more dangerous. Most tornadoes are rain-wrapped.
