"but namjoon" is a phrase that kpop community once used to justify their faves problematic behaviour by deflecting the attention to Namjoon, leader of BTS, who once did problematic things in the past. Using the "but namjoon" phrase in an argument to play down the actual issue involving your faves problematic behaviour, is a poor choice and shows either ignorance or lack of interest in racism, is completely missing out the main problem and purporting false moral (also called: fake woke). However, Namjoon has proven once again he's educated and socially conscious. In press conference LY: Tear, he let us know the n word should never be used if you're not black, and they even censored a Korean word (naega) in their new song 'FAKE LOVE' to not upset anyone. Conclusion: "but namjoon" is cancelled and it's time to use it to our advantage. There aren't any more excuses for idols to be antiblack or racist.
