Respect is something that is earned and should never be your default setting when meeting someone new. People who say you should respect everyone are confusing the word respect with polite. Being polite should be your default setting when meeting someone. Respect can only come from getting to know what a person values and their abilities. There are only two forms of respect: admiration and fear. You can respect someone you don't like or isn't on your team. Ex: Kevin Durrant and Lebron James, George Patton and Erwin Rommel, Bugs Bunny and Wiley Coyote Be polite but let them earn your respect through their behavior, not words.
