The term was popularized by celebrity Gabrielle Union on Twitter and use of the hashtag #GrownASF, after comments by Sports Media journalists of the age of her NBA star husband Dwyane Wade. Union tweeted: "Now come on home baby, I got somethin' for ya #GrownASF".
