A ratchet is the male piece of a tool used to loosen up nuts and bolts. The corresponding female piece of the tool being a socket. When this term is used to describe a female, it isn't so different. It isn't about being ghetto, or obnoxious. It's about being the type of female who doesn't have enough self respect to not allow herself to be used as a tool to loosen a nut. A "ratchet ass bitch" will always pick up the phone no matter how many times a dude disrespects her or is blatantly only interested in using her to bust a nut. Regardless of how awful or shitty he treats and clearly views her, she will always continue to let dudes treat her in such away because as mentioned before she has no self respect.
