Verb | so·cial | \ˈsō-shəl\ | dou·ble | \ ˈdə-bəl \ | \ ˈdəch \ social double dutched; social double dutching 1. The act of hovering in social situations, waiting for the right time to include oneself in a conversation. Akin to the physical sport of "double dutch" or, jumping of two jump ropes rotating in opposite directions simultaneously. 2. A tactic often used by socially awkward people (usually men) in order to initiate conversations with strangers in a social setting.
