Usually noticed as a talented and hard-working musical group, Band, to the participants, see it as a cult. In a traditional marching band period, what happens there is pretty much grinding on drill, or the form of the players/actors/color guard, the whole time, with an occasional cup of ice. There the band rules out the weak and puts them as alternates, or, literally, pawns used only in emergencies. Working on the music is more or less vigorous, with the poor drum major trying his/her hardest to direct while band plays. Old ladies screaming at you about tone and support is another plus, along with whoever wants to bang our heads against the wall with rhythm lectures. And who can forget good old MUSIC THEORY! oH gOsH tHe TuBas Band is pretty much survival of the fittest both musically, mentally and physically, and it all comes together to make a show.
