Iyer is a surname belonging to Tamil Brahmins from the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in India. Iyers are 3% of the population of Tamil Nadu are are found in negligible numbers in other states in India.

Typical Iyer Traits - reserved and quiet, intelligent, highly educated, non-confrontational, mild-mannered, secretive, highly ethical, strict and disciplined, frugal & conservative lifestyle, hates being the center of attention, not very social, will be hesitant to help, kinda selfish and scheming. They are usually interested in reading, chess, cricket, coffee, carnatic music, dosa, sambhar, and visiting temples. Most of them work as doctors/engineers/lawyers/accountants/professors.
