A terminology used in video games that use timed objectives. It refers to the countdown-process of an objective which contributes towards the victory of one team without this team defending it. Usually a player has to flip an objective (by standing nearby or activating it) which then triggers a countdown. If the player then decides to leave the objective the countdown of the objective is considered a ghostcap because no player is present to either flip the objective back or to defend it. In Planetside specifically it is refereed to a base that is ticking down towards being captured without any players being present. While looking at the map it seems a base is being captured by a ghost because the player can see it is completely empty. It is considered as griefing because the defenders need to make the effort to visit the base to flip the point back.
