The cadre of global oligarchs whose outrageous wealth derives from fossil fuel sales. Oilygarchs are found in Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Texas, and any other state that relies heavily on oil for its national income. They fund corruption and authoritarianism, and are generally the enemies of democracy and human rights. Coined by writer and futurist Sara Robinson.
