The modern interpretation of geek is someone who has a strong interest and enthusiasm towards a particular generalized subject, or a specific segment of that subject. There is no restriction on the types of subject that would qualify someone as being a geek on that subject. The interest may be strictly observational, but could also be participatory. A "nerd" is sometimes used interchangeably with "geek". But more accurately, a nerd is a type of geek (commonly, but not entirely, restricted to interests involving academics or fantasy) who has difficulty communicating coherently with others outside the realm of their own interest.

The subject of a geek's interest can be absolutely anything, such as cars, video games, live theater, movies, music, technology, etc. Or the interest could be focused on a specific segment, such as a type of car, a style of theater, a genre of movies, a style of music, an area of technology, etc. A music geek's participation, for example, may be limited to just watching musical performances, or actively playing an instrument. The largest, and most vocal, collection of people who have a strong interest and enthusiasm towards a particular subject would be sports geeks.

Someone with a HUGE amount of knowledge in one, or multiple subjects. Usually acociated with computers. Seen as weak and unathletic, but dosn't have to be.

Geeks are wannabe nerds. Geeks are people that are not nesessarily smart. Geeks are jealous of nerds and dress up in the stupidest way possible to seem smart, ruin nerds' reputation, and feed people's steriotype of nerds. The differences between nerds and geeks is that all nerds are smart, but not all geeks are smart and the smartest geek is no smarter than the average joe. Most nerds are stylish, funny, social, well mannered, or some or all of the above. Geeks are dopey. The first geeks were freaks at a freakshow biting heads off of chickens.

Geek 1:I got left back. Look at my suspenders. Don't I look smart? Geek 2:I failed three classes and barely passed summer school because I cut class to become cool. Geek 1:That's a new record. Geek 2:I'm the cooliest! Suspended animation is the cancelation of a cartoon. Nerd A: Actually, it's when your body cools down to the point where it shuts down for a while, being preserved. Geeks 1 and 2:Your clothes are ugly! Nerd A: Are you blind! These are brand clothes and sneakers. Nerd B and C (which are both popular): 'Sup Nerd A. Nerd A: 'Sup Nerd B and C.

Geeks have the intelligence and proficiency of Nerds but branch it out in any feild related to an area of interest. For example; if said Geek enjoys computers they will also enjoy anything related to the computer field including things that, if they were done by a guy that spends 6 hours a day working out, would be "cool". Geeks also make excellent Hackers because of their social abilities. Geeks have the advantage of being very capable socially, but usually only among other Geeks are they truely themselves.

Geeks are/n't very cool.

A person who knows almost everything about subjects that interest them (such as video games, anime, movies, etc.), but are socially indistinguishable from everyone else. Commonly confused with dork and nerd, but is very different.

"I just found out my boyfriend can name all the different Pokemon and what their moves are! He's such a geek!" "You've memorized the entire geneology of the Greek panthenon?! You're a major geek!"
