A non-Japanese person with an obsessive, idealized devotion to Japan, treating the country and its culture as virtually beyond criticism. A modern Wapanese can often be found on Japan-related forums, reacting with sarcasm and ridicule toward Western travelers who dare criticize Japan, refuse to worship everything Japanese, or simply don’t adopt the same excessively deferential, apologetic attitude toward Japanese society.
