A fake fan is someone who has recently discovered a new film, series, artist, or book and despite only recently learning about it, still claims that they have superior knowledge and refer to it so frequently that it eventually becomes outright disrespectful to the original, larger fan base. Some examples of films which have been plagued by fake fans are suicide squad, deadpool and the recent 'It' film.

"Hey? Did you hear Ryan over there quote the new 'It' film? I bet he hasn't seen the original or read the book." "I know right! He's such a fake fan!"

A fake fan is a person who heard about an artist or band 10 minutes ago, is already “in love with them”, starts posting stuff only about them. Forgets about that artist in like two days. Uses the artist to be “edgy” or different. They get really defensive or aggressive when you expose them. Usually only listen two the most popular songs and don’t listen to the whole album including old music just was popular.

Hey! Mardena is buying me and her tickets to Lil Mosey! Oh that’s cool! *Two seconds later* “If you listen to lil mosey you’re my favorite person ever” Ugh she’s such a fake fan!

Someone who claims to be a die hard fan but criticizes the team more than anyone when they struggle. Probably has not ever been to a game. Sings their pump up songs so everyone knows they know them. Probably switches teams after a few years when their team loses public support. Probably because it’s harder for them to get clout
